David Luscombe

David Luscombe joined GHD in 1995 and has 17 years' experience as a civil engineer in planning, design and construction of major infrastructure projects.  David commenced his career working at Ok Tedi in Papua New Guinea, involved in construction of mining support infrastructure including pipelines, hydro power plants, workshops, haul roads and accommodation facilities. For a three-year period, David also worked for the Queensland Department of Main Roads as Construction Manager for major projects including bridges. From 1999 to 2004, David was the manager of the GHD Mackay office and was involved in the engineering of numerous multi-disciplinary projects including significant mine support infrastructure for the nearby Bowen Basin coalfields. This work included workshops, conveyors, bathhouse and amenities, haul roads, wastewater and water treatment plants.

David relocated to Adelaide in 2004 and has since been project director on numerous infrastructure projects exceeding AUD$100 million, including the BHP Billiton Desalination pre-feasibility study. David comes from an engineering family and has spent most of his life associated with infrastructure projects. Accordingly, he is comfortable with the planning, procurement and delivery of infrastructure projects and the necessary importance of safety, risk management and hazard analysis, security, environmental compliance, maintenance and operations.
