Kerikeri Heritage Bypass

GHD has provided an innovative roading solution which seeks to protect irreplaceable national heritage sites the Kerikeri Mission House and Stone Store from flooding and traffic vibration damage.

The design saw not only the removal of the old river crossing in favour of a new pedestrian bridge but also construction of a 1.6 kilometre vehicle bypass over an alternate stretch of the Kerikeri waterway.

With construction nearing completion, GHD Project Manager Peter Hebden explains, “Having the opportunity to be part of something with such significance to our heritage truly means the world to us. It’s a real privilege to see it completed, and completed with so much dedication by all those involved”.
