GHD was engaged by the Province of Saskatchewan’s Municipal
Affairs Department, Canada, to conduct a feasibility study into a
Municipal Asset Information System (MAIS).
The MAIS will assist in accomplishing several provincial
objectives relating to municipal infrastructure:
- Guide provincial decisions about the amount and
scheduling of provincial funding for municipal infrastructure
- Support the province and local governments in
presenting the case for municipal infrastructure funds to the
Federal Government
- Aid in setting priorities as to the
infrastructure that should be funded, based on provincial interests
and the state of infrastructure across different categories and
geographic areas of the province
- Assist municipalities in meeting the upcoming
Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) requirements for tangible
capital assets and in improving their own asset management decision
making
- Assist in meeting the provincial
government’s internal financial planning requirements with respect
to third party funding to municipalities
