EMS for QP Operational Areas

GHD was commissioned by Qatar Petroleum (QP) to develop an Environmental Management System (EMS) for three operational areas: gas operations, Dukhan and offshore operations.

QP required a systematic plan to identify, prioritise and reduce operational environmental impacts.

The EMS was developed to:

  • Comply ISO 14001:2004 requirements
  • Be flexible to ensure environmental impacts are considered throughout planned expansions and upgrades
  • Be easily updated as QP’s operations change over time
  • Be integrated within the current quality management system framework
  • Be easily implemented by management and employees

GHD conducted the work in three phases – documentation review, documentation development and review of QP conditions in operational areas.

GHD can assist in all stages of environmental management system (EMS) development, including initial environmental review/gap analysis, development of registers of aspects and impacts and legal requirements, assisting clients to develop procedures, implementation of the system, and training of staff. We offer specific skills in EMS, environmental training, triple-bottom-line reporting and ecologically sustainable development.

Environmental audits can identify opportunities to avoid or minimise environmental impacts, minimise risk of environmental fines, and reduce energy, water and other resource use. GHD has conducted audits for industries such as mining, oil and gas, waste, defence and agriculture.
