Qatar Airways crew have a new ‘home away from home’ in Doha that achieves high quality living in a relaxing atmosphere.

GHD was engaged to design the complex, which contains 543 apartments in four buildings that are arranged in a traditional form of an Arabic Mafruka. The facility, which has a modern contemporary theme, is designed to project the dynamic and progressive branding attributes commonly associated with Qatar Airways.

Each building is served by four lifts and parking for 280 cars is provided on the ground and basement levels. The planning of the complex is intended to foster an integrated community and this is supported by the central common space, which generates pedestrian links to the other open spaces and the lift cores, and generally assists with orientation. According to Camille Ghorayeb, Project Manager, “Our design was able to achieve the agreed high number and mix of apartments within a limited area, while still providing lifestyle enhancing communal areas. We are delighted with the design outcomes for this project.”

GHD provided the full range of architectural and engineering design services and will provide construction phase services. The project is now under construction and looks to be completed by 2010.
