GHD has been operating in Vietnam since 1994 providing solutions, technical assistance and project management services for various International Development Assistance and private sector projects throughout the country.

A representative office was established in Vietnam in 2002. By 2007, the company received the license to operate as a local firm, GHD Vietnam Ltd, an affirmation of our confidence in Vietnam’s continuing growth and associated business opportunities.

GHD Vietnam is currently involved in:

The delivery of a water treatment project in the southern city of My Tho that will provide clean water to 500,000 people.
Institutional strengthening with AusAID in the central province of Quang Ngai.
Architectural concept designs for multi-storey hotels and offices in Hanoi and the design of a provincial theatre complex.
Vietnam Urban Water Supply Project II to upgrade and expand the delivery or urban water supply services across Vietnam.

Implementation of governance support program in Quang Ngai

The Implementation Support Program (ISP) is aimed to enhance the quality of the Vietnamese Government’s Program for Communes Facing Extreme Hardship in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas (Program 135-Phase 2) in Quang Ngai Province.

The objective is to reduce poverty and foster, secure and sustainable livelihoods for those living in the province’s 43 poorest and most marginal communes. These communes are also home to the large majority of Quang Ngai province’s ethnic minority population. The program is also designed to help distil and disseminate lessons from Quang Ngai which may assist the Government of Vietnam and its program partners in the delivery of P-135- II nationally.

National Water Policy for Laos

GHD is providing support to the recently established Water Resources and Environment Administration (WREA) in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) to develop a new strategy for managing the country’s water resources.

GHD will assist in conducting a comprehensive inventory of the country’s water resources and in developing a new national water resources policy and strategy. Our team will work with the WREA to review and analyse existing water related data, including hydrology and meteorology, water quality and groundwater information for all major river basins in Laos. The assessment will identify opportunities to improve data, information, systems and models, and will inform the development of an interim water resources policy for the period 2008-2010.

Aquacity

GHD has prepared the detailed master plan for Aquacity, a development located adjacent to the proposed Waterfront City in Vietnam’s Dong Nai province.

The development is being undertaken by a consortia led by the diversified international corporation, VinaCapital, with participation from local organisations DonaCoop and An Phu Long JSC.
