We employ over 700 architects, planners, scientists, drafters, project managers, economists, engineers and supporting staff. Stephens Creek Reservoir Evaporation Cover

Country Water was granted AUD$700,000 for the construction of an evaporation cover over the inner intake pond of the Stephens Creek Reservoir in Broken Hill, New South Wales.

GHD provided project management, contracts management, specification preparations for a design and construct contract, construction supervision and financial auditing.

Composting Toilet

GHD's ongoing research and investigation into the application of dry composting toilets and separate collection and use of urine provides for a fundamentally different approach to sanitation.

Mine Groundwater Management, Latrobe Valley, Victoria

Loy Yang Mine is a dedicated open cut coal mine in Victoria, which excavates more than 30 megatonnes of brown coal per year to supply power stations and industry.

GHD has developed numerical groundwater flow models of the mine that were used to assist in the medium and long-term planning of aquifer depressurisation, to test the impact of different aquifer depressurisation strategies and to determine aquifer pressure requirements to maintain mine stability.

Phil Duthie

Phil is the State Manager for GHD in Victoria. The Victorian practice employs over 800 people in the sectors of water, environment, transport, energy and resources, and property and buildings.

Phil has had broad experience in consulting and previously managed teams in civil infrastructure, property and buildings and environment. Prior to consulting Phil’s background was in project and construction management.

Dean McIntyre

Dean is the Business Group Manager for our Victorian water business, which includes water resources planning; water and wastewater treatment; transfer and collection systems and recycled water. Dean is also on the Alliance Leadership Teams for the Sugarloaf Pipeline Alliance and the Barwon Water Alliance.

Dean has over 20 years’ experience in the water sector, in particular managing multidisciplinary infrastructure and environmental teams for a broad range of projects involving due diligence, feasibility studies, planning, design and documentation and implementation.

Darren Hill

Darren is the Business Group Manager for property and buildings in Victoria. Steve Newcomb

Steve leads our Victorian energy and resources business group. This group includes traditional services such as mining; plant and process; risk management; dams; geotechnical and spatial science; oil, gas and energy; tunnelling; and regional energy and resources. Recently this group has evolved to include thermal and renewable energy.

Steve’s background is in mine design, mine development, geotechnical engineering and project management; which has included international experience in Thailand, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, Turkey, China and Europe

Jim Giannopoulos

Jim is our Victorian environment leader. The environment business group provides services in environmental management; planning; natural resource management; contamination assessment and remediation; air and noise assessments; waterways and stormwater; stakeholder solutions; international development assistance and a regional Victorian environment practise.

Jim’s background is in water, environment and project management and he has worked in and held senior leadership positions in GHD offices in Australia, Asia and the US.

Richard Warwick

Richard is GHD’s Victorian Business Group Manager for transport. The transport group provides solutions for roads, bridges, rail, traffic and transportation, urban development and marine projects.

Richard has over 35 years’ experience in the planning, design and construction of major civil engineering projects. Prior to GHD, Richard held senior executive roles at VicRoads and managed the delivery of several major projects including freeways and rail projects.
